*Please note: This drive is open to current BMW CCA Members ONLY & will have a limit of 45 cars!
Did you know that Lane County has more covered bridges than any other county west of the Mississippi River? So, hop in your BMW and let's go check them out on July 30, 2022, beginning at 10:00 AM!
The Lane County Covered Bridges Drive will focus on the western part of Lane County. Our starting point makes for a quick entry into the countryside, and all four of the bridges we will visit can be driven over with our cars.
Once we depart Eugene, beautiful curvy roads that beg to be driven will lead us to the first bridge near Hadleyville. From there we will make our way to Vaughn, where we will see several wood and paper mills, so bring your camera if you want to take some rustic shots of the Oregon countryside!
From Vaughn we will venture to Walton, where our bimmers will rejoice on the sweeping bends of the coast range. We'll take quick break at Linslow and then continue to Mapleton--a quaint, small town nestled in a canyon on the Siuslaw River. We will stick with the Siuslaw River as it guides us to Deadwood, providing us a spectacular driver's road leading to another covered bridge. The next stop is the serene and picturesque Triangle Lake, where we may spend a bit of time taking in the sights.
From Triangle Lake, we will shoot through Blachly forest and make our way to Veneta for lunch, where we will all meet at Ixtapa Mexican Restaurant 24965 OR-126, Veneta, OR 97487.
ATTENTION! Bridge #3 is on a 0.8-mile loop road that is gravel. It is well maintained, and we will be on a slow crawl for this section. However, we have a plan to split the group into those that want to avoid the gravel. But those that choose the bypass will not be able to see this bridge.
We will have a Mandatory drivers’ meeting at 10:15 AM sharp to explain the route and safety rules. We will head out in staggered groups shortly thereafter.
If you would like to mingle with your fellow motorists we will be at the Target in Eugene at 9:45 AM. Target 4575 W 11th Ave, Eugene, OR 97402
